Meet Alli Cox! Alli is by far one of our kindest members here at desk chair and her smile it contagious. Let’s check out Alli’s story below.

Q: Career Journey

A: I have done everything creative imaginable- from communication and graphic design to cosmetology where I was behind the chair for about 20 years. I went back to school and double majored in architecture and design. I truly have done about everything you can think of. Balloon sculptures to driving an ice cream truck. I have done some crazy stuff to pay the rent. I got tired of building other people’s dreams, so I finally decided to invest in myself and my family. That is when I became an entrepreneur and started my own business in interior design. I am still figuring out how to market my skills in a more “out of the box” sort of way. I am leveraging my business by utilizing consultations and manifesting change by shifting the energy in the client’s space.

Q: Give us your elevator pitch!

A: I am a designer and a creative at heart that is working in the business of Interior Design.  I manifest transformations in people’s lives by using the practice of Feng shui.

Q: How did you choose your business name?

A: It has been the name for a long time.  The word ingenuity comes from being creative and inventive and innovative in all the different ways that I express my creativity.  It wasn’t only meant to be for Interior Design, but the word encompasses all that I want to do in leaving a legacy and giving back to the community.

Q: Have you always wanted to be doing what you are doing now?

A: I can remember as a young child of 10 years old, I would sit down and draw home designs and landscaping and would color these really intricate pictures.  I would see places and think, “ I would do this if it was mine.” When I was younger and just starting out, I listened to my mentors, who had suggestions on where I should go in my career path but as I got older I started to pursue things that would truly make me happy. While I was working as a cosmetologist I was blessed to get pregnant with my son. I realized that I couldn’t continue being a hairdresser and knew I needed to find another career path. I finally found my way back to school—only took me about 30 years.

Q: Why did you choose coworking?

A: My favorite part about coworking is being in an elegant and professional environment where I am completely focused from my goals.  I don’t find myself getting distracted,  I have a professional place to meet with clients, and the fact that it is downtown – location is important! “

Q: How did you hear about desk chair workspace?

A: Actually, funny thing was that I was looking for places to send my students so they could do their own research on shared workspaces and evaluate different spaces and what it was like to work from one.

Q: Tell us what your favorite part about desk chair is!

A: 24/7 access, I love that I can be here at any time of the day or night.  There is just something about it.  It truly feels like home!

Q: What do you like to do for fun?

A: I love to travel, but due to covid-19, my son and I are planning to do some good old fashion road tripping!  We bought a camper and decided it would be best to do our history lesson by road tripping in person.  We will be studying the Oregon trail, trail of tears, Grand Canyon, etc.”

Q: What is your favorite local business?

A: Cactus! I like the people that work there, the atmosphere is so great!  I really love the food and love the relaxed vibe.  “

Q: If you could share a meal with someone alive or dead who would it be and why?

A: Neil DeGrasse Tyson – I find him super fascinating.  He is an astrophysicist and he is one of the few African Americans in his field. He is super down to earth and doesn’t talk over your head.  I would love to pick his brain and learn from him!

And lastly, a sharing point:

A: I am really excited about my ribbon cutting with the Loveland Chamber!  I am so excited to get the business officially launched and introduced to the community. I am ready to move on to the fun part, which is the act of actually do-ing!  If you are in the area and want to attend, come check it out October 13th!
