Meet Colby Gergen

Q : Tell us a little about your career and journey

C: I thought I was going to be a developer so I taught myself PHP (scripting language) a decade ago. I hated squashing the bugs I created and I knew I couldn’t be a graphic designer for a lack of being able to match colors. I knew I wanted to stay around software, but I fell into product management and UX before even knowing what those disciplines did. As I realized that my joy and skills were in UX and research, I shifted in that direction. Today, I’m an independent contractor that produces research and user experience work for my clients ranging from startups to large corporations.

Q : Give us your elevator pitch – describe your business in a few words and how you got the name.

C: I work with companies to help understand how their product or service is situated within their customers’ lives, then build ways for them to be better and more valuable to their customers. Recently I’ve partnered closely with old friends at a small studio (yes, ASS) – the concept is that we are a small studio that works within companies. We are not an agency that is interested in working with a lot of clients, having levels of managers, etc. – we work with select companies and add our skills to their teams.
