Meet Ernie Hauser

Ernie is the Chief Sales Officer for WEST (Western Energy Support and Technology) and our resident snazzy suit dresser here at desk chair workspace. You can commonly see Ernie beaming with a huge smile from ear to and ear and rocking all kinds of bold fun ties around the office.

West is a flow measurement calibration services company. They also make additional products that extend services to the factory floor.  “We also have a new startup within WEST that is software as a service. The software monitors and assures proper flow measurement within the gas transmission market.   We are all about measuring things and measuring things correctly and we can provide just about anything you would need to do that.”

Q Tell us a little about your career and journey

E: I went to PENN State for Mechanical Engineering. After graduating, I went into sales.  I worked for five years in small startup company. I had the opportunity to join Caldon, and Ultrasonic Flow Meter company and I helped grow this company in the nuclear, oil and gas, power generation, and defense markets.  We were acquired by a company called Cameron which is much bigger, that then was acquired by Schlumberger. After the acquisition, the company got much bigger and I decided to leave the corporate level I was at.  I wanted to go somewhere smaller and that’s when I found WEST.  I have been with WEST since September 2017.

Q : Give us your elevator pitch – describe your business in a few words.

E: WEST is a flow measurement calibration services company, that makes additional products that extends services to the factory floor.

Q : Have you always wanted to be doing what you are doing now?

E: No lie, since I was 14 years old I knew I wanted to be in technical sales.  I got a goofy part time job selling as a kid and realized I was really good at it. I also knew that I was gifted in math and science and it all developed from there.

Q : How did you decide to choose coworking and what is your favorite part about it?

Although we are a bigger core group, a little different than the traditional members here, we also knew that we didn’t want to carry overhead to provide the support services that come with an office space.  It allows us the luxury to focus on what we do best and still enjoy the benefits and amenities of what coworking allows.

Q : How did you hear about desk chair workspace?

E: Our finance team was here first as a small group and Lisa our CFO suggested the idea expansion and having more room for overflow and then our team grew from there.

Q : What is your favorite part about desk chair workspace?

E: I enjoy the vibe of the work environment.  It is different than anything I have experienced in my personal work career. I am used the corporate style of offices.

Q : What do you like to do for fun?

E: Go to the mountains – I like to hike and be outside and just hangout.  I am from Pennsylvania originally and our mountains are like hills compared to Colorado.

Q : Besides your own, what is your favorite local business?

E: That is a really hard question. I like pizza – Origins!

Q : If you could share a drink or dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

E: Teddy Roosevelt – he was a fun dude! He was adventurous and shot all kinds of things and charged up San Juan Hill. He strikes me as a “go do it” kind of guy. I would probably talk to him about the “zest of life” and what drives him!

What’s Exciting For You Right Now?
Ernie Says…

Good news for us!  We have been faced with challenges this year but we are currently on the upswing! The new software startup is showing great promise after some great breakthroughs the last two weeks. We are truly going to revolutionize the way things are done in the oil and gas industry with measurement assurance. We have so many opportunities and it’s exciting!
